Stepped Shaft and Rotor Shaft Process Highlights

The process begins by forging the entire part to a large diameter and marking the next step with a more complete tool. We then forge the next step to a smaller diameter or taper to create a profile while maintaining directional grain flow, giving the part greater strength and fatigue resistance.

Depending on your part configuration, our facility can forge custom flange-end shafts with heads upset to a variety of shapes, including single diameter, tapered or multiple diameters.
